Yesterday I saw a butterfly

I obviously get excited about the little things. I realized yesterday that the ground was free of snow for the 1st time this year. On the 22nd of April, I was able to sit on the ground with my ass still dry afterwards. That day, we walked in the Kleskun Hills, which is the very southern end of the badlands. We were accompanied by hawks, deer and many other hiding creatures. The thing that blew me away because I'd never seen it live was the pasque flower (Alberta's protected wildflower). One side of the hill was covered in snow and the other had little purple buds poking their faces out. I'd seen these flowers in illustrations and photos, but in real life they are... beautiful.
